The Green Olive - West Des Moines | Authentic Mediterranean Cuisine & Friendly Service

This was a great find on our drive through. Excellent food with ample portions and friendly service. Too bad we live hours away or I'd be back often! Highly recommended!

Outstanding food! Had "The Works" and wife had the Gyro Wrap. Large portions of delicious food. Service was great, pricing was reasonable, only critique is the atmosphere was a bit muted. Will definitely be returning!

Wonderful Mediterranean food and awesome service. We were in from out of town for work and thought we'd try something different from burgers and fries. The food is amaze-balls. The meat is seasoned to perfection without being overpowering. Even the salad dressing is super tasty, and I was not expecting it. We had to make a second trip a couple of days later to try it again, and we were not disappointed.

We had a scrumptious Greek meal at this recently-opened location. The meat was tender, the rice with turmeric was tasty, and the salad with dressing was fresh. All of the side sauces and the humus were so tasty. Our server, Belen, was prompt and kind. The owner, Veronica, stopped by the table and greeted us. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner at this site. Go support this West Des Moines eatery just west of the Valley Junction area.

THIS SECOND LOCATION IS FIRE !! Finally made a visit to their West Des Moines location and it satisfied every craving we had. Great extension of their Fleur location that West Des Moines NEEDED. Ever since having my food experience in Burbank, CA December 2023, I was on the hunt to find the best Mediterranean close enough to taste like the west coast. Found Green Olive right after my trip and have been eating here for a year now and I can’t stop. Won’t stop. THE GREEN OLIVE is theeeee place. The kofta and steak kabob are the best. Can’t go wrong with the lamb or the salmon kabobs either. Total for two meals and a drink $40.xx before gratuity. Everything here is excellent and consistently hot and delicious. Favorite drink here is the mango aqua fresca. Meals are BIG and can be shared for $2.99 plate split fee. Desserts and appetizers made in house. Water, pop, and iced tea are offered for drinks. I love this location and the layout of the restaurant. Very spacious and open. Large windows and very inviting. Service is always excellent and very welcoming. I appreciate their consistent kind service and willing to please their customers. I’ve meet Veronica, the owner, and her daughter. Got their story on how they made it here to Des Moines and why they started the Green Olive. I absolutely LOVE their story and admire their love for food and people. Within an hour of my visit here several families came walking in for a dinner. So happy to see this as a family favorite in the west side! Highly recommend and love supporting their restaurant!!

Our family Green Olive for Mediterranean food during lunch & dinner! However, breakfast here is also lovely! The West Des Moines location is more spacious and less busy than the original location on Fleur Drive. Highlights of our meal included freshly squeezed OJ (squeezed by our server after we ordered), crepes with bananas & Nutella and a great cup of coffee (surprisingly good coffee, which met the approval of the coffee snobs in this family) . There are traditional breakfast options like French toast, eggs, pancakes, and delicious aquas frescas. Our kids especially love the crepes here. All 3 generations of our family left with happy, full tummies! Plenty of parking—We’ve even parked here while towing our camper.
